Trying to quiet the nay-sayers, are we?

Not only did I giggle furiously upon reading FHotD, but also when I read the VLC blog. I am declaring today National Out the Phony Wench Day. Could it be that Cathy is trying to quiet the nay-sayers in her VLC blog by telling everyone that Big Yellow Caddi(aka VLC) is finally going off for training? Then why all the secrecy? Why not name the trainer now if we're all going to find out if or when he goes to show? Could it be Cathy doesn't really have a trainer? Or could it be that she's afraid to name the trainer's name in case anyone should know the trainer and be able to get all the juicy dirt on the VLC's accomplishments or need I say it failures? If Cathy isn't embarrassed by the VLC, then why not name names?

Cathy also had this to say about the ever explosive and rebelling VLC colt, Bullwinkle-

~Regarding the baby Moose...none of us were born knowing how to work with a baby. I learned in the late 80s because I was working off my board at a barn that wanted me to longe their AQHA yearlings. This was in the era before round pens, LOL
~I had to go out to the large indoor arena and convince previously barely halter broke babies that they wanted to longe. This resembles water skiing behind the Road Runner as Wile E. Coyote is chasing him.
~If I failed, the baby typically did something like charge into the middle straight at me. Fun, fun! Babies bolted off down the wall and I had to practically sit down to hold them to the circle. It was the baby rodeo but it did teach me how to longe.

Hun, don't try and cover up the baby moose's(aka Bullwinkle) behavior as typical yearling behavior especially when it's been stated that his grand dam had the same issues throughout her training and I'm almost willing to bet that those oops colts of the VLC were either non accidental or the result of the same explosive and intolerant behavior. Bullwinkles owner openly stated that several people tried working with the incorrigible colt, with no success. When several people try working with an explosive colt with no success on things that have already been taught, then it's not something that can just be wrote off as miscommunication or normal behavior.
Cathy, I survived through the 60's, 70's and 80's. Round pens weren't rare. They were built out of wood, they were built out of pipe, even a few were built out of barbed wire- which I'm sure would make you shudder. I'm a 5'1'', 140 lb woman and never once was dragged behind a yearling, no matter how stout they were. To this day with my age, health, and size- I can still go out and longe a 1200 lb conditioned QH or TB that has never been longed in the open with out being drug all over the place. I even know 10 year olds that can successfully work and teach a weanling and yearling with very little issues.

I just wonder what Cathy is going to say when the Bullwinkle does something such as charging, rearing at, or purposefully kicks at his owner when she's doing something minor like trying to fetch him from a stall? I'm sure she'll just say "It's normal behavior, you have to try and think of what could be making the horse act this way- is he barn sour, did you come in his blind spot, was there a bee in his stall pestering him? Maybe he just needs some more round pen time before you try and take him into the real world!"

LOL, Good one. Ive spent my some 30+ years working babies of varied breeds Arabians, NSH, Saddlebreds, Morgans, AQHA, TB, APHA, ApHA...come on here Cathy......If you know how to properly teach ground lunging its really very very simple...no pulling, running off, charging ect she sounds like someone with too many excuses, not enough experience.

I have a friend that is an ex-jockey and now raises friesians. He's a whole 110 lbs and barely 4'10'' and is able to longe massive friesian yearlings in the open for the first time. I went to Virginia last year to watch him with his new yearling crop(since I SOOO want to purchase one, but am waiting for my health to get more stable) and not once did I see him being drug behind a bucking or bolting yearling.

I guess it's just another reason I think Ryan Gingrich is a total idiot and has no reason on TV- he is constantly complaining about rope burn from being drug around by little ponies and horses. Makes me want to yell at the TV- GROW A PAIR!

I'm lost, why is the horse going off to the trainers? WTF has "Cathrine Ho" been doing with it up until now? If she hasn't got the confidence to finish the job, she shouldn't of taken it on in the first place. Will be interesting to see what excuse "C-ho" has when the horse is sitting in some paddock in 6-12 months time doing nothing. Another wannabe trainer biting off more than they can chew with the horse being the loser.

LOL Tooooo funny!! I wonder why she will not tell who the trainer is, too. Hummmm It sound fishy to me. I started breaking in late 80's & there were round pens everywhere. Never seen a shortage....

Unknown said...

Me neither.....a shortage of roundpens...LOL

BunniesAreWatchingYou said...

My grandfather had a round pen...made of wooden rails that we sat on to watch him or one of his hands.

That was over 40 years ago.

Unknown said...

I knew what a roundpen was when I was like 6 yrs old and watched the movie "the cowboys" with John Wayne!

I guess that kinda kills off her "Training" blog then, unless she's going to bug this expert and write about her............

Of course she won't nane any names - just in case someone knows where the place is and the "Gelding Bus" makes an unscheduled stop while she's not standing guard.
It would really wreck her day to find VLC's balls on her doorstep - I'd be worried about that too.

She named a name here: http://www.barnculture.com/bigyellowcaddi

In the sidebar is where she named a trainer. I can't take the credit for finding this information though...someone else found it.

Hilary Carrel...they are out of Wyoming from what I could find. Probably wishful thinking though.

I don't mean to be a total bitch, but how can Cathy actually afford eight horses. EIGHT horses? I've had to draw the line at TWO order to keep my horses in feed, vet and farrier care and training, plus the nice extras like saddles that actually fit and new blankets when old ones wear out or break. It's not like I'm poor by any means. I have a good career and savings and wherewithal.

I mean, I could take on more, but if something catastrophic happened, my animals would be so screwed. And I'm married, so I have hubby's income to help out too. It's like she can't stop adding horses, but they ARE NOT LIKE CATS. Cat ladies can get a lot of cats before they max out. Not so much with horses.

I feel bitchy even bringing this up, but since she preaches like mad on the whole "be responsible" and "only take on what you can adopt" line, I've been wondering about it for a while. The call to adopt an animal, while worthwhile on the face of it, really got under my skin since she's encouraging a lot of people to take on animals they may not be able to afford in uncertain economic times. It just seems hypocritical.

Wench? Maybe you would like to devote a whole post to this issue?

trainingemmy said...

Oh, and as for the being dragged behind a young horse while lunging it, all I can say is OMFG. Is she really serious? Sometimes I think her VLC blog and her FHOTD blog are written by two different people (or personalities). Seriously.

She adopts a pious holier-than-though attitude on FHOTD (Can you IMAGINE if some breeder or trainer talked about being dragged behind a young horse? She would have a field day with that information!)--all under the guise of helping animals. And she reveals the real goods on VLC, and it ain't pretty.

My horse was abused in her previous life. So she gallops on the lunge line if I make mistakes, and yes, I've had to dig in and hang on tight, but it has ALWAYS been my fault when that happens. Always. Her lunge line comment got me to thinking...

trainingemmy,

I so agree with you. Not to mention she wants them to adopt from no-kill shelters only...personally I think that is cruel. I got my recent puppy from a lady who only rescues dogs and cats from the pound who's numbers are up. Those no kill shelters are there for a reason. They take on sick, unhealthy animals that need constant medical attention, the type of animals that hardly ever get adopted from the pound. So it's their fault if they don't have the room to take in more. Stop rescuing these lame animals and expecting the people to adopt them so they can be sucked dry financially. Some animals need to be euthanized. I know that sounds harsh, but it's just like with that poor stallion, Champ. Or those people who save horses and try to put those prosthetic legs on them. They aren't going to live a good life, put them out of their misery. I know that sounds rough, but life isn't easy. I would rather adopt from a place where I know I am saving a animal from being put down. Same reason why 2 of my horses came from a Kill Buyer. We would all like to save all the homeless animals, but going out and adopting that one more animal that they wouldn't have adopted before, just because Fugly says too is wrong. And a lot of her reader's are going to do just that and if something happens to those people financially or medically, it's going to be those animals that suffer. It almost seems like she has a god complex, She says adopt and she thinks that people will run out and adopt...half of her followers are going to, the other half are just going to lie and say they did.

trainingemmy said...

Wazzoo: I totally agree with you on Champ. I'm sorry...he's a cutie, but he's dead lame, he will always be dead lame, and he looks uncomfortable in every photo she posts. I've thought he needs to be put down from the get-go. It's not a crime to put an animal out of its misery. It doesn't make you less of an animal lover. In my book, it makes you more of an animal lover.

And it IS more important to adopt an animal that is sentenced to death or that can still have a useful life. I'll bet there were a lot of perfect perfect riding horses in the same batch of auction rejects that Champ came through with. How many of them do you think went with the KB? Save the ones that can go on to have useful lives, for crying out loud. It really burns my shorts.

I suspect Cathy is very torn right now. She has gotten very accustomed to the adulation of her fans--can you imagine going from being some lowly-paid divorcee who likes horses and lives in relative obscurity in the PNW to being an internationally-recognized commentator whose every move is scrutinized and copied?

Now there's this blog and it sounds like some other movements afoot to question her reliability and her goals. Seems to me that she's scrambling to hang on to her credibility. It would suck to lose all that love, now wouldn't it? Vanity goes before the fall, as they say...

Anonymous said...

I also want to mention, for those that find themselves in a bad situation due to job loss, ect., and you have animals that you can no longer feed(dogs and cats), I know for that most animal shelters will euthanize for $5. At least the pound where I lived in South Dakota did. My friend had a dog who bit a baby and she didn't want to take a chance of someone else with kids getting a hold of the dog so that is what she did. So for those of you in tight spots...don't just abandon your pets to the unknown, or if you have tried and tried to find homes for them, take them to the pound and spend the $5 to have them euthanized...it's better than just turning them out of your house.
I'm not trying to promote mass murder to those who might think what I just said is cruel, I'm just saying it's better to put them down with kindness than to turn them out from a home where they have known nothing but love and security, to fend for themselves on the streets.

trainingemmy,

it is sad to think of the healthy animal who ended up on the truck to slaughter in place of champ. If Fugly really wanted to promote anti-slaughter, then even if her VLC was a superstar stallion, she would geld him. Because even the superstars get end up on the slaughter trucks. For those breeders that have superstar stallions, why don't they collect the semen and freeze it until this situation with the over population of horses gets under control? They could collect, geld and still show their horse to show why people should buy his sperm in the future. Just a thought.

Love the music on here!!!

I never thought Cathy was much of a trainer/rider, to be honest. I've done many of the things that she holds onto very proudly. Riding at a polo barn won't teach you how to ride. If anything, it was the EASIEST, unchallenging job I had ever taken and had to quit because it was just that boring. I exercised 15+ horses a day the same way she brags she did as well. Easy and boring. I had to move on to a job that actually challenged my skills.

So the fact that she can't handle a foal doesn't surprise me. She's no trainer. She's a normal, backyard horse owner with the mouth and mentality of a teenager. Any horse that charges me will only do it once before it realizes just how bad of an idea that truly is. Teaching how to lunge is easy, if done correctly.

She had to "convince previously barely halter broke babies to lunge"? Thats not training. Thats breaking. I'm not going to applaud it.

TrainingEmmy-
You bring up a good point. And I kind of think it funny that on FHotD she was talking about how she lives in a small apartment with free or borrowed furniture then she has quite a few horses, including a stallion that shouldn't be.
I wish I could say that I think Cathy is just one of those people who want to be a big time trainer and bit off a tad more than she could chew when she tried to take on a big stallion. However, from what I gather on her VLC blog, I'm not sure she'd even be suitable for training a gelding.

trainingemmy said...

Wazzoo: I mentioned a few weeks ago on FHOTD that if things got really bad for me, financially, I would put my mare down. She has a lot of problems, personality-wise, and she's quite long-backed and not conformationally perfect. I obtained her from a BYB who decided she didn't fit with the breeding "program" anymore. I really don't want her to end up in that place again, passing along her less beautiful qualities, and I would worry about what might happen to her. She has a lot of fears and issues. It's not that I don't adore her. I do. She's awesome. But I'm a realist.

Anyway, I was blasted by several FHOTD followers as a murderer and a liar and all kinds of other stuff. I didn't suggest anyone else do it. I just said that would be MY choice. Then, one of the women (who I swear invents a new identity for herself by the hour) started personally attacking me. She went to my blog (now closed down) and took information from it about a barn cat we had that died in August. She basically made me seem like I was an animal abuser. You can imagine how that made me feel.

I still check in on FHOTD, but I think Cathy is irresponsible, unkind, and yes, LazyTrainer, with the "mouth and mentality of a teenager," as are many of her most faithful followers. Furthermore, many of her readers ARE teenagers and young adults. What kind of example is she setting by calling people "fucktards" and "asshats," etc.? Bleh. She just does it because it brings more readers to her site. Gross, gross, gross.

SaddleSeater said...

How can she afford all the horses????

Let me count the ways.....

1. the monies received from advertisers linked on FHOTD site....

2. the monies received from her Fugquestrian line of shirts, mugs, mouse pads and other items on CafePress. The mark-up is INCREDIBLE,,,to adorn oneself in FHOTD promotional propaganda...

3. the monies received from her contribution cries for Champ???

4. hopefully not from any speaking engagements as to the proper training of weanlings or 4 year old VLC's!!

trainingemmy said...

OK. Truly, this is my last rant (sorry FWOTD for being a monopolizer); but seriously, why would you obtain "a three year old stallion the size of the Sears Tower" when you are a self-acknowledged "scaredy cat, 40 year old re-rider?" This is EXACTLY what she rails against all the darn time. Those are HER WORDS from the VLC blog. She's scared, but she has a stallion. Why, why, why!?!?!

And why? :-)

The Wenchster said...

lol- no worries Trainingemmy. That's what this is for. I think for the most part is that Cathy feels that she's entitled. I remember in one comment section on FHotD that MANY people brought up why is the VLC still a stallion. It wasn't but a few minutes after that when she quickly posted a new topic on two veterinarians getting arrested for having their horse tow them out of a ditch and the horse ended up dead. I think her mentality shows that she wants people to look in another direction while she does the things she preaches about.
She's often stated that beginners or novice shouldn't own stallions- and I agree. But the way she talks, it sounds like she herself is a novice. And a novice scaredy cat shouldn't be owning stallions.

I'm sure Cathy will write another blog here in a couple days about all this anyway. Probably going to say something like "I've gained my confidence back since owning the VLC and he's established my role of being in the saddle. He's shown be how to be a more honest rider, something I wouldn't have learned from any other horse!"

^^^^Something along those lines. Another one of her look over here so you don't see what's going on over there tactics.

The Wenchster said...

Saddleseater- I know, her prices are outrageous! And her mug and T shirt line aren't even humorous "Don't you breed no Fugly horses". I'm sure half the nation will have no clue what it's talking about if someone is actually brave enough to wear it out in public. I can say that I'm glad the shirts don't say, "Only @$$hats and F**ktards breed fugly!"
You have to wonder, if Cathy is so about the horses, is she advertising those rescues for free or is she actually charging those rescues to advertise? You would think someone who is all about saving horses wouldn't charge rescues, right?

I've only raised one foal and enjoyed it very much. Of course with each new lesson he was like, what the heck are we doing and why do you want me to do that? Silly boy :-) I found that once they learn it, they DO NOT forget. They may not want to do somethings at times, but they don't forget how. My little guy learned very quick that if he just did what his weird momma wanted, he'd get to go back out and torment the big horses. I will admit he did drag me once, caught me off guard and got turned around and used his butt to launch, I fell down and got dragged. I did put a stud chain on him 3 or 4 times after that cause as we all know once they learn something, they don't forget, good or bad. Once he couldn't do it again and found that he was causing himself discomfort in the process of trying, he quit trying.

"I had to go out to the large indoor arena and convince previously barely halter broke babies that they wanted to longe."

*slaps forehead* I find it rediculous that someone who preaches so much about horrible training methods and the like has this to say about herself. If you're taking "barely halter broke babies" an expecting them to longe, OF COURSE you're going to have a problem you ignoramous. OF COURSE these "barely halter broke babies" are going to run, drag, pull, bolt, buck & charge!! They haven't even been taught basic groundwork like haltering & you're expecting to convience them longing is a good idea? PUHlease!

"Babies bolted off down the wall and I had to practically sit down to hold them to the circle."

I still do not understand why some people believe that bracing against a horse to correct them from bracing against you actually works. That's why I see so many people that look like they're flying a kite when they longe their horse. They send 'em out in the circle and the horse goes flying around in mindless circles while their human is just holding on for dear life. Not only does it look retarded, but you're accomplishing nothing.

With her down right uneducated and stupid training methods, no wonder Fugly has to send this horse away to a 'real' trainer (if that's even really going to happen).

trainingemmy said...

Ah, check out this little gem: "I've found that those that would attack you are usually jealous, angry, critical people who find fault with everyone and everything. " From the most recent Fugly post in the comments section from one of her fans.

I guess we're all angry, jealous, critical bitches here because we question, examine logic and don't believe everything we're told on THE INTERNET. Honestly, I think people just love to be under other people's thumbs. There can be no other explanation.

And I wouldn't mind Fugly so much if she wasn't a terrible role-model for young women, if she did more research and behaved in a more civil manner, and if she didn't encourage people to make reckless decisions such as adopting animals that are special needs or spending money on animals that really ought to be put down or subtly encouraging people to keep their so-so colts stallions.

She sometimes has some good information, such as how to care for horses in the winter or how to put weight on a skinny horse, or once a long time ago, a great post on how to bring a horse into better condition without risking injury. All great stuff that I found useful. But her half-researched, libelous rants full of profanity (and I'm quite profane in general, so don't think I'm pious about that) do not advance the dialogue in the horse community. And, often, she and her followers have hurt people. That bothers me. I guess I could stop reading, but I keep hoping that something interesting will pop up that will be educational and helpful. It does happen from time to time.

ziggybadd said...

"I've found that those that would attack you are usually jealous, angry, critical people who find fault with everyone and everything. "

Ahhhhahaha!!!!! Well now, if that isn't the pot calling the kettle black. What the hell is fugly always doing?? Attacking people because of the way they care for their horse/train their horse, run their business, etc. So does that mean that she is a jealous, angry, critical person? Oh no... Of course that doesn't apply to all might fugly. *rolls eyes*

I used to halter break all the foals at an Arab ranch I worked for in the 80s. I never ever had a problem with them running out on me.

Where I was keeping my horses over the past few months there are two round pens made out of natural pine tree rails. This place is over 55 yrs old! There have been round pens around for years but the fact that she thinks you have to have one to teach lunging/longing (however you spell it) is laughable!

All of the foals that I have taught were taught to longe in the open before we went into the round pen. It made round penning so much easier later on!

I figure if your horse really has enough potential to make it big in the show world to be worthy of breeding, you'd advertising him like crazy, even before he hit the ring. You'd be plastering his bloodlines and photos all over and getting his name out there, and promoting his trainer as a way to say "watch out for this one, he's gonna be the next big thing." A big part of showing is advertising and politics, even as much as people say it isn't. By hiding all the details, Cathy isn't helping the VLC's career in the least. I don't think she's even familiar enough with the showing and breeding world to realize this, sadly.

Unknown said...

The fact that this potty mouthed, irresponsible, inexperienced horsewoman was given an honorable mention in Horse&Rider Mag...makes me want to puke!

2bayponies said...

The funny thing about how she "influences" people is if you look at the fugly forum, excuse me the "free speech message board" a great number of the folks on there don't really read the blog anymore, consider her hypocritical, and think the vlc should be gelded. Okay so IMHO the VLC is a cute horse. Definitely not stallion material but as I own a 4 year old not stallion quality stallion myself I have no room to talk.

Unknown said...

I have a question, non VLC, well Fugly's. I have one (he's a yearling and working on 15 hands). Well breed halter/performance, but I have no intentions of showing him in halter till he can show in performance halter. Meaning he has a job. I do not plan on riding him till he is 3. I know this will keep him from preforming in any 2 or 3 year old futurities. I plan on having him be multi use, barrels, cattle work, English if he can manage it. How much do you think my waiting will hurt his career as a stallion? I am not going to hurt my boy, I want him to perform into his 20s, well you see what I mean. I will say if he does not live up to my expectations he will be a really cute gelding. Right now he is butt high, but it's that gawky yearling stage. Otherwise he is a looker.

Unknown said...

Oh as for starting youngsters on lunging, I am a firm believer in teaching a few things first. I tell my clients if you do not build up their education it is like asking a 5 year old kid to algebra. They need kindergarden and the rest of their building blocks. Though I will admit my dun mare's filly this year was a pistol. She gave me a run for my money no baby has before. I had to pull all the techniques out of my book just to get her leading. However, once she got the idea that I was in charge it went smoothly.

Horse 101 said...

I nearly fell over when I read the roundpen comment. So does that mean Monty Roberts or another one of those idiots invented the round pen? They were most definitely around in the 80's, 70's, 60's ....

I also don't understand having difficulty working with weanlings and yearlings. That's my favorite part of the whole process. There's no mistakes to fix, they are fairly forgiving, and it's much more satisfying.

I agree that Cathy has too many horses. My theory is that she rescues because she can't really ride anymore. It gives her a good excuse for not riding because all of her horses are broken down rescues.

Another thing that bothers me is the ads in her blog. Someone on the comments asked if she could put them somewhere else and she fired back with a comment about them staying where they were because she needed to get paid for this.
Funny, that's almost completely opposite to her original attitude on the blog that she was providing a service to byb's and fugly, abused horses.

Horse 101 said...

Banner,
Goog point. Probably can't afford advertising for the VLC because the martyr has to rescue more horses then tell everyone about what a wonderful person she is.

The Wenchster said...

Texaspaint- I think you should at least start promoting him as a 2 year old even if he isn't showing. And a lot of butt high weanlings and yearlings win halter futurities. Judges expect them to be awkward looking. But as a 2 year old you will have a pretty good idea what his body is going to turn out to be and if his conformation would make him a suitable show horse and stallion.

The Wenchster said...

Horse101- it's all gotten to her head. I'm sure she feels like a celebrity at her local Horse rescues and auctions. I wouldn't be surprised if she did her version of "dolling up" in case she should have her photo snapped by the less worthy people around her.
I think it's also the reason why she's so gung ho to mention her local rescues and not highlight any other rescue across the country. I mean, if she did that, how would she get that pat on her back and have her adoring local fans falling at her feet.
She now thinks that she's so popular that she can charge for her services. It just goes to show another way that her blog isn't about the horses.

Out of curiousity, I checked the website for the VLC's sire. I didn't realize he's a halter horse. The few offspring that are competing are doing so in PHBA not AQHA (toatlly different level of competition). They are mostly halter with a little bit of trail sprinkled in.
KLR Reflection is retired from breeding. He's 19 and hasn't produced a stellar AQHA champion yet. I guess Cathy thinks her fame will carry him through.
I also could not find any horses on sale sites with him (KLR Reflection)in the pedigree. Speaks volumes about his lack of popularity and regionality.

Sorry about the typo in the previous post. Should say good not goog :)

trainingemmy said...

I guess I wouldn't even mind that much if Fugly got a book deal because it would be a flash-in-the-pan situation. I doubt it would do that well, and I'm certain there would be only one. And it's all speculation on my part anyway, although the way she's been working her brand lately makes me think it's not idle speculation.

The blogger who I KNOW wants to publish a book and who drives me nuts is Mugwump Chronicles. She's "writing a book" on her blog. Some of it is good, in a freshman composition, gosh-you-need-to-work-on-your-writing kind of way, but the amount of disgusting fawning and drooling over her so-so writing just makes me vomit. And woe betide anyone who disagrees with her. She'll eviscerate you.

OMG! Check out Yellow Horse Ranch's blog;
http://yellowhorsesinc.blogspot.com/
There is a yearling pic of the VLC on it with this description:

Pictured last May, as a yearling with - as you can see - a lot of growing left to do!
Big Yellow Caddi, also pictured last May, is a three year old buckskin stallion by KLR Reflection out of Sindy Sabre (full sister to Favor Mr. Sabre, earner of over 2000 AQHA points and AQHA versatility horse of the year). He is already 16.2 at the hip and he's still growing! "Cecil" won't have many rainy days in his future - he is heading for Southern California next month with Cathy Atkinson. She is going to start him under saddle this spring and over fences next year. Cecil has an amazing disposition and free jumps like he's in an AQHA working hunter class, so we're very excited to watch his future career.

"She is going to start him under saddle this spring and over fences next year".
Gee I bet they are disappointed. First off, it sounds like they had him for a while. Secondly Cathy hasn't lived up to what she told them she would do with the VLC.

This is what bugs me. She goes on and on about this lunging thing, training of a weanling, talking about how difficult it is etc...etc..

That in itself shows everyone that has ANY experience with horse training that she has no clue. She is completely out there and spouting off things she knows nothing about.
Frankly..her statement of trying to longe/lunge the yearling sounded like a 12 year old's first time learning to do it.
Just because she failed at knowing horse psychology and how to train a weanling/yearling doesn't mean the rest of us are inept.

Ok..what the hell is up with THIS statement:
"I've found that those that would attack you are usually jealous, angry, critical people who find fault with everyone and everything. "
Ok, let me figure this out. Lemme get off my short bus here, get out my IEP and get my aide.
"attack you": those guys attack other people just because of a horses color, a bent leg, or big ears. They attack others if they disagree (like if they email Cathy or make a post on the blog).
Guess that means Cathy and the Swuglies are "jealous, angry, critical people who find fault with everyone and everything. "

I just started reading your blogs ad all I can say is "Get outta my head!". I think Fugly has a lot of great points in her blogs and is a pretty entertaining writer but....occasionally I grow weary f the holier than thou 'tude and wish she'd spend more time focusing on promoting a love for horses rather than witch hunting people that don't meet her standards or insisting everyone think as she does.

I'm not a "professional" trainer, but my mother is and she taught me plenty (and so did the ten million other trainers I grew up around as a result of her being associated with the industry). I've trained and shown my own horses for as long as i can remember and have on occasion taken in other people's horses if they inquired about getting their horses to behave as mine did.

Even when I was first LEARNING how to teach a newby basic ground manners (we're talking newby to newby here which isn't always the best idea)I cannot recall having nearly the same experiences as FUgly describes here. It makes me wonder, if she's so damned qualified and knows all these snooty falooty forse people to boot, why she has had such a steady stream of this kind of problem?

Oh, I'd also like to add that "a large indoor arena" is still a confined space where your foals can't just take off at a given moment. if she did lose control and the line slipped away from her, she still doesn't have to hunt them down from a pasture or anything. She made it sound like she had such a hardship teaching these young horses and honestly I'm sure there are plenty of people who have made do with MUCH less
