I wasn't all that surprised to see she would be back up for sale but it seems that if you have a nice mare that throws beautiful colorful colts and is a full sister to a 2000 AQHA point earner that you wouldn't want to get rid of her, right? Well unless she's a hormonal mess, unbroke, volatile, and chronically lame. Here is the VLC's dam Sindy Sabre, up for sale, yet again-

My guess is that the only way you can get a picture of this mare is to make sure she's eating otherwise don't you think they would find a way to get in there and take conformation and halter shots of the mare? Especially for $4,500! I have to say though, that from what I've heard of the mare, I wouldn't be to eager to get close to her either. But heck, at least quit breeding her. Just because she spits out big colorful KYOOOT babies if she's bred back to the same stallion doesn't mean you need to continue to breed her, especially since her last years filly is still up for sale for $4,000.
And do I even have to mention the fact that her ad Horse Description is purely about her full brother? I wonder when Cathy is going to feature this seller in her blog for purely promoting and selling based on color?

And who's been calling YOU nuts????
You've nailed it on the head the whole time!
Wait wait...isn't this ad a PERFECT example of a breeder/seller doing EXACTLY what Cathy was bitching about in Monday's post entitled "But He Goes Back To The Darley Arabian?" I'm pretty sure it is. And to think...it's the ad for her precious VLC's OWN MOTHER. Tsk tsk tsk.
Hey pot, meet kettle.
But....
Isn't that what everyone does with their mad, lame mares .......?
Ah - only if they have nice coloured babies, now I understand.
I guess I am a little handicapped here since I have been boycotting FHOTD for a while now. Still refuse to go there even for vindication. I will not up her ratings after she ripped an older couple who were forced to sell their horses because the woman developed medical problems and bills started to mount. According to the ***** they had bought the horses and they should keep them forever, period, no excuses. Sorry but it hit too close to my parents situation and I have not been back. (well I did go liking for pictures of this VLC every has been talking about).
Hey jsad....
You don't have to go to Fugly's site to look at photos...
We've found them other places and have saved them for the general public viewing anytime the public wants to see them. Just ask here and I'm sure more than one of us will be glad to show them to you or anyone else.
Banner said exactly what I was thinking!
LOLOLOL....I'm dumbfounded as I just don't even have the words to describe the hypocrisy of this ad....Just last week Cathy was ragging on someone for riding the coatails of siblings....I agree, I bet you cannot even go into the pen with this mare, why wouldn't you have her in a nice show halter and in some conformation shots??? probably cuz she will try to kill you if you get near her......
Jeeeeeeeeez FWOTD! You hit it spot on! Banner and fatlip pretty much said everything else that needs to be said!!
I cant believe they want $4,500 for a broodmare thats not useable. Especially in todays market.
Some fool will buy her, some fool always does......
$4,500? That's a lot of dough for a horse that doesn't even appear to be broke. :P
jsaid, just Google "Big Yellow Caddi". You'll find lots of photos.
The reason I know this is because if you Google "Cathy Atkinson AQHA" (Cathy Atkinson being Fugly, of course) you will get a hit for a horse breeder's blog about a buckskin colt named Big Yellow Caddi having been purchased by a Cathy Atkinson. It's complete with photo. :)
This is a quote straight off of the VLC's breeder web site under the Breeding 101 page;
"Next, look at the mare's abilities. Does she have a show record, or has she shown significant talent in another athletic discipline, like foxhunting, polo, or team penning? Is she a good mover? Does she have a good disposition? One of the worst mistakes new breeders make is breeding a mare "to settle her down" because she is difficult to ride or handle. A mare like this doesn't need a baby - she needs hormone therapy. A mare with a poor disposition will usually produce a foal with a poor disposition. Don't take that chance."
Uh, hello. Didn't they break their own rules of good breeding by breeding Sindy Sabre. Oh wait, that's why they've been trying to sell her. But in the meantime, they keep breeding her.
And double whammy, the VLC's sire KLR Reflection does not appear to have a show record either. All I can find is that he has sired PHBA point earners.
JSAD: How true, how true!
I, too don't visit the FHOTD because of how mean and cruel she is.
These people had nice paying jobs, full bennies. A nice large home to live in and living great! All of the sudden the company downsizes or closes it's doors completely. These people that felt secure in their jobs are now without.
No money for rent/mortgage.
No money for medical care or prescriptions.
No money to pay the electric or heat.
No money to register their cars.
Definitely no money to care for their horses.
The horses are the first to go when there is just no way to live. To find them a nice decent home is what any horse lover would do. We don't want to kill them! We want them to have a happy and healthy life. So what is wrong with that?
Apparently Cathy seems to think that only SHE deems which horses are to live or die. Only SHE can tell a person if they can give away their horse or if they have to starve and lose their homes in order to keep it.
She is obviously not seeing what is going on in the world around her.
My dad is disabled and may lose his house. He will be living with me if that happens. I will be supporting his medical needs. So there is a blow to my OWN horse care cash flow.
My older sister is in deep depression as she is trying to support her twin grandchildren and their parents, and help her son through drug rehab...AND just found out that her company is downsizing. SHE is next on the chopping block. She has been there for 25 years and is a computer programmer making 90K.
Yup...gonna lose her house and all.
So...
Who the hell does she think she is knocking people like she does?
to me..she's nothing but a nasty ol' cow that it obviously bitter and also has a God complex.
Living in her tiny little box and feeling on top of the world because she is now the popular one she had always dreamed of being.
She's got the 'internet God Syndrome' going on.
Horse 101:
Umm, wow. You showed ANOTHER perfect example of hypocricy. I mean, it doesn't get much more pure than that. Saying one thing and doing the opposite. Perfect example. And this is who Cathy bought her horse from? Talk about not doing your research. Wait, isn't that something ELSE Cathy always preaches about?
I'm sorry your family's having such a hard time, bucky-sending prayers and good wishes your way! That definitely puts things in perspective!
i always wonder if FHOTD has ever heard of karma??
When I google her name and AQHA, I get some weird thing about Carolina APHA :-) I googled "big yellow caddi" and found something on barnculture.com.
I know her horses are mostly rescues and I hate to say this but they're really kind of pitiful looking. I hope they're going to get some decent rehab and start looking better.
I truly hate it when she calls a horse a POS; really, she has NO room to talk!
Interestingly enough, you only see her actually riding one horse and he looks like he wouldn't be capable of much more than moseying around the arena a few times...
Name pending
(KLR Reflection x Just Plain Nasty)
This leggy colt out of a 17 hand Thoroughbred daughter of Elocutionist is heading for a future career over fences. Owned by Cathy Atkinson.
Just thought you'd like to see she got another crazy color breeder horse, and a colt, no doubt. Guess what, it's a mutt! Yaaaaaaay! *headdesk* Stupid is as stupid does.
Sindy Sabre does have an exceptionally straight shoulder. Even if she were broke, I doubt she'd be a particularly comfortable ride.
Bucky, my heart goes out to you. This economy is not being kind to a lot of people. I really wish the best for you and your family, and I know exactly what your sister is going through. My husband has been laid off twice. I always say that it doesn't just affect the person who lost their job. The shock waves of that action echo out around the person and hit their family, their animals, their neighbors, their friends, the coworkers they left behind, etc. A now former friend of mine recently said of layoffs at his company (that weren't going to touch him, of course), "Oh, change is opportunity." Yeah, whatever, jerk!
At first the FHOTD blog was funny and sometimes informative; but as the economic crisis has continued to deepen, I have grown increasingly disgusted with Cathy's approach to her topic. She has done little to relate her blog to the happenings in the larger world, and although her followers might suggest that she doesn't need to since her blog is only about horses, we live in a complex world. If you are going to set yourself up as an expert and talk about issues, you better darn well do your research and reporting, learn the fine art of argumentation (so many of her arguments are completely specious on every level--the old if-thens based on faulty logic), and show that you can relate your arguments to a larger understanding of the world. She fails in all categories much of the time.
I do think the Wenchster has been keeping Cathy more honest lately. I've noticed that there have been no new posts on VLC and her FHOTD posts are starting to be a tiny, tiny bit more information-rich than before. Go Wenchster! You're using media's watchdog function for good.
Addendum to previous post: WOW. I hadn't seen Cathy's most recent VLC post basically speaking to the concerns of this community. Tee hee.
CinnamonSwirl- where did you see that she got another horse? I would love some links!
And should she really be getting another very large horse? Especially when she can't handle VLC?
On the breeder of her stallion's website! Another purty color colt I'm sure she'll want as a prospect!
Isn't this horse for sale by her owner Yellow Horses, Inc. and NOT Cathy Atkinson?
I am not sure why this is an issue... It seems you are no better in this blog entry then those who you are complaining about.
Is there any proof this mare is unstable or is it all conjecture and rumor?
Sindy Sabre is for sale by Yellow Horses Inc., not Cathy Atkinson.
In fact, Cathy has nothing to do with Yellow Horses Inc. except for the fact that she bought Big Yellow Caddi there. Just buying one horse from a company, does not somehow make you liable for every decision they make...
And on another note, has anyone here actually ridden Sindy Sabre? Or is it just pure gossip that she's got an ill temperament? I've met plenty of horses who have been labelled crazy, but who are actually lovely, and are nothing like the rumours.
More to the point, why exactly does the author of this blog go about cyber-stalking Cathy Atkinson? Grow up and work on your own life, rather than criticizing hers. Pathetic waste of internet space!
